Graubündner Kantonalbank (GKB) and Inventx AG are working together to renew GKB’s core banking platform. Clear roles, a long-standing partnership, and a deep understanding of banking IT form the foundation for this collaboration.

Modernizing a core banking system is one of the most demanding undertakings for a bank. It affects not only IT, but the operational foundation: core business processes, regulatory requirements, and the ability to continuously evolve products and services. Against this backdrop, Graubünden Cantonal Bank (GKB) is renewing its Finnova core banking platform in collaboration with Inventx. Operations will be ensured via inventx’s own ix.Cloud. Thanks to data centers in Switzerland, full data sovereignty is guaranteed at all times and all regulatory requirements are consistently met.

With the introduction of the Finnova.neo P&S Layer, GKB is relying on the latest generation of core banking software—the project start is planned for April 2026. This strengthens the bank’s IT architecture and lays the foundation for flexible, future-oriented further development of offerings and services for its customers.

However, such a transformation project requires far more than technological expertise. What is crucial is the interplay of banking know-how, regulatory understanding, and a sustainable operating model. In this context, the partnership-based collaboration between GKB and Inventx is a key success factor. Decisions are made jointly, responsibilities are clearly defined, and solutions are developed as equals. GKB assumes strategic governance and contributes its many years of experience in the use of core banking systems. Inventx is responsible for the secure, stable, and high-performance operation of the platform and ensures that operations and further development are conceived together from the outset.

The renewal of our core banking system is a strategic milestone for GKB. With Inventx, we have a partner by our side who understands our requirements and reliably ensures the stable, secure, high-performance operation of critical systems in a cost-effective manner.
Andreas Benz, Program Manager Finnova.neo at Graubündner Kantonalbank

A central objective of the project from the very outset is to ensure resilient and efficient operation of the new core banking platform. Especially with new software components, operational experience must be built up, processes refined, and architectures designed in such a way that they meet the requirements of the Swiss banking market. That is why numerous cross-organisational teams have already developed extensive Finnova.neo expertise and will contribute it to the project.

Together with GKB, we are starting today to build the bank’s IT architecture of the future, relying on a sustainable project approach in which we tackle challenges together and shape a future-proof platform.
Damian Hallenbarter, Head of Banking at Inventx AG
