Data surrounding transactions, status changes or customer interactions is no longer stored traditionally in a database and queried periodically. Modern architectures follow the principle of real time. Systems thus receive information “streamed” at the moment it is created. The laborious “polling” that previously generated load actively and cyclically every few minutes—and still was never truly up to date—is eliminated. But for this to work smoothly, operating core banking software requires a so-called streaming service.
This is the case, to give one example, with finnova.neo as well. The solution requires a range of supporting services that the operator must provide. In the case of finnova.neo, this includes the Confluent streaming service. Without this streaming infrastructure, finnova.neo and the connected downstream systems simply won’t run in the future. The analogy is simple: Outlook doesn’t work without Windows.
Streaming service from Switzerland – not only for Finnova customers
Since Confluent is a fully managed, cloud-native streaming service, a central question arises for many financial institutions in this context: Where should the data be processed?
This is exactly where Inventx comes in. We operate the Enterprise Streaming Service entirely from Switzerland, in the ix.Cloud, in our certified data centers. This enables banks and insurers to introduce real-time architectures around sensitive data without having to run clusters, lifecycle management or compliance controls themselves.
However, the service is not aimed only at Finnova banks. Insurers or institutions with other core systems such as Avaloq or Temenos can also obtain the streaming service via Inventx and our data centers. The service is designed to work wherever business-critical events must be processed in real time—completely independent of the core system.
Data sovereignty and security as a fundamental prerequisite
Anyone operating real-time architectures in a regulated environment is navigating the tension between innovation and the duty of control. That is precisely why the service was developed according to the same principles that also shape our other platform offerings: clear governance, multi-tenancy, integrated security mechanisms and complete traceability.
For our customers, this means:
- Real-time services, without having to make regulatory compromises.
- Innovation, without having to take responsibility for your own infrastructure.
- Data sovereignty, because everything is operated in Switzerland.
